Hatton
Here, at the birthplace of Ceylon Tea, the customs, traditions, and lifestyles of colonial plantations continue to exist. During the colonial era, Hatton was and still is a bustling hill station. The temperature is chilly at elevations of more than 4,000 feet above sea level, and many planter’s bungalows are now hotels and guest homes that provide a whole “tea experience,” providing insightful information on the tea-making process from leaf to cup.
The town is most famous as a retreat to Adam’s Peak and the Sinharaja rain forest reserve, aside from the tea plantations.
