Udawalawe is a large nature reserve that is centered around its eponymous reservoir and is shaded by the Great Western mountain range. With over 600 in the park and groups of up to 50 frequently seen, elephants are the primary draw. It’s one of the greatest places on earth to see elephants in their native environment because of the vast plains and little vegetation.
several animal species, including buffalo, crocodiles, deer, sambur, and several bird species, may be seen in the park. Bears and leopards, however, are less frequently seen.
