Dambulla
The hallowed cave complex is one of Dambulla’s top tourist destinations. It measures 2,100 square meters in size and has been a Buddhist pilgrimage place for more than 22 centuries.
These caverns, which were first established as one of the most significant monasteries in the third century BC, were preserved and improved by succeeding monarchs until the eleventh century, and they are still revered today.
In addition to its historical significance, Dambulla is still a bustling metropolis with lots of interesting sites to see.
