Kalpitiya

Located on the North Western shore, between the lagoon and the sea, Kalpitiya is a haven for those who enjoy the outdoors and water activities. Kalpitiya, a marine sanctuary featuring bar reefs, flat coastal plains, saltpans, mangrove swamps, marshes, and enormous sand dunes, is well-known for seeing big pods of dolphins and whales offshore. The biggest coral reef in Sri Lanka is the Bar Reef, which covers 307 square kilometers.
The reef, which is rich in biodiversity, is home to sea turtles, reef sharks, manta rays, and tropical fish. October through May is the ideal time of year to visit Kalpitiya.
