Nuwara Eliya

Here in the tea country, which is known as “Little England,” customs, beautiful scenery, and chilly weather are paramount. Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka’s resort capital, lies tucked away high in the central highlands at an elevation of more than 6000 feet. The British tea growers in the middle of the 19th century replicated their native land with the appropriate climate.

With its mostly colonial architecture, park, golf course, racing track, boating lake, and opulent period-style residences that are now hotels, the atmosphere nevertheless exudes ageless charm.
