Turtles, temples, enormous sculptures of Buddha, fishing villages in the countryside, and the boundless ocean beyond. Tangalle, which is situated on the stunning southern Sri Lankan coastline, is pristine and provides a serene, dreamlike environment. But there’s a lot to discover. Its notably ominous atmosphere is said to have originated from a meteor crash that occurred on this desolate plateau of dark red soil encircled by forest in antiquity.
